Description:
Saulnois Reserve comes from the Lorraine region of North-Eastern France. Its unique flavour is attributed to its affinage, which involves being soaked in Marc de Mirabelle (Golden Plum Brandy).
Aged for a minimum of 12 months, this cheese develops a firm pâté (somewhat like an aged gouda or parmesan) with a flavour that is sharp, rich and condensed. The unique soaking process also influences the cheese’s flavour with fruity flavours coming through and slightly nutty undertones. The texture is dense, yet smooth when chewed and has a hazelnut rich aroma.
Great on its own, used in a salad, or melted as you would a Raclette.
